MINUTES

EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

January 10, 2013

 

The meeting was called to order by Secretary Jeff Miller at 6:00 pm. The other members of the Executive Board present were: Max Alavi, Chrisjeon Clemmer, Julie Dean, Frank Elizondo, Marvin Jones, and Treasurer Robert O'Connor. President Bobby Bluehouse, Vice President Terence Endersen, and Executive Board member John Forstrom were absent. Fourteen additional BSRA members and visitors were present.

 

The agenda for this meeting was approved.

 

Marvin Jones moved, seconded by Frank Elizondo, the approval of the minutes of the December 13 meeting, with the addition of a statement from President Bluehouse. The motion was approved: Clemmer, Dean, Elizondo, Jones, and O'Connor voting yes, Miller voting no, Alavi abstaining.

 

LBPD Lt. Kanaly reported a decrease in violent crimes citywide in 2012. Regarding Belmont Shore, he noted the theft of a weapon from an open garage on Argonne Avenue. He offered to provide details next month about the four assaults reported to crimereports.com in December. Questions from the audience included the topics of school safety and enforcement action directed to loud motorcycles.

 

Alexis Rabenn announced the BSBA Chocolate Festival, scheduled for February 9. She noted the closing of "Me Soo Hungry" and "Eden". "Seaside Salads" is scheduled to open in February at the "Me Soo Hungry" location.

 

Julie Maleki, Administrative Analyst from the Third District, reported that sidewalk repairs are in progress on Glendora Avenue. She added that repaving of Lois Lane would begin soon and that trees will be planted along Livingston Drive.

 

Treasurer O'Connor reported the bank account balance is $2,529.

 

A motion by Elizondo, seconded by Jones, was approved unanimously to support construction of a dedicated pedestrian path on the beach, parallel to the existing path, to request the new pedestrian path be located on the inland side of the bicycle path, and supporting the plan to relocate the existing path (and the new path) further inland in the area between Pomona Avenue and Corona Avenue.

 

Jim Corbett spoke about the proposal by Los Angeles County to assess property owners a fee for the purpose of cleaning storm water runoff. He urged residents to learn about the issue and vote.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 pm.
